Can Plants Write Newspapers?

In Kunnen Kranten Planten Schrijven? — translates as Can Plants Write Newspapers? — I invited a group of local children of the Sledderloo district in Genk to explore the presence and damage of the heavy metal air pollution in their neighbourhood and work on their collective power to bring their worries, questions, doubts and suggestions to the public sphere. Through their playful interaction and careful intervention in a close-by nature reserve, the children developed personal stories they shared through a public reading.

This project was realised in the frame of Kinderkunstenfabriek organised by C-mine Cultuurcentrum and FLACC workplace for visual artists, Genk (BE), 2013.
