Archive for Public Play

Archive for Public Play explores the meaning of self-initiated forms of free play — in all their diversity — for activating the public space as a site for public being and public interaction. The realisation of the project depends on the participation of adults sharing their most memorable stories of their childhood’s self-initiated free play activities resulting in a database archiving their collective play memories. These Public Play stories were used to invite people to re-enact the diversity of play activities in public space and hereby also activate or re-activate the public space as a site for public being and interaction.

This project was part of the Office for Public Play research project and funded by the FP7, Marie Curie Multi-ITN project TRADERS. It was exhibited at Growing with Design, A-venue, Gothenburg (SE), October 2015.
